What Houstonians Eat in a Hurricane, and after

Apparently, Houstonians stock up well. During the hurricane and just after, folks were eating up the contents of their freezers before it could go bad. Steaks, venison, pork loins.

Neighborly cookouts including paté, rib eye steaks, champagne and wine. Anything that was in the freezer “getting mushy” came out and got cooked and shared.

I guess that’s the difference between being flooded out of the top of your house AND having no electricity and just having no electricity. At least people are taking care of each other. That’s the only thing that got the people of New Orleans through Katrina/Rita and everything else.
